That succulent turkey you are consuming is probably alive today. Frolicking and playing in the crisp cool of early Autumn, completely oblivious to its internal deliciousness. Flapping its juicy wings as leaves gingerly fall around it from the trees above.

Gobbling playfully to get attention from the squirrels gathering their hibernation stockpile, or maybe from the sparrows and geese as they prepare for their southward journey.

All the other animals know your turkey's fate, but none of them have the heart to spoil his blissful ignorance. If he could even comprehend death for human pleasure.

So enjoy your turkey this Thanksgiving. May it be the most delicious one yet. And feel no guilt, because your turkey never was able to comprehend the frailty of life.
